Umm... uses a custom pixel bender filter to do the job really fast... (essentially, its a cellular autonoma for those of you how know about them. Its just on a sort of analog basis rather than a digital on/off one)

The initial effect is good but it sort of degrades to color noise after a bit. I might add to it later. But the most i seem to be able to get out of it is this sort of noise pattern which is frustrating. I had visions of spectacular intricate patterns developing etc.

ive still not played with web cam yet :O

The other day i was trying to play with the microphone... i wanted something like auto-tune... do fourier analysis and take the most prominent frequencies and play them back as dynamically generated sine waves which are trunkated to the nearest clear note... after about an hour of searching it became obvious that its not possible because the microphone data is not avaliable for sampling and forier analysis :( But apparently this is a feature in the newest version of flashplayer that is still in beta or something :/

Hmm it is not in beta already. It is Flash 10.1 and there are examples like this [link]

10.1 came out last week or something, not shore what penetration it has now but you can check player version inside and not run new code if it is not version you need.

I haven't played with it yet so I am not 100% shore.

I think the algorithm is too linear anything to emerge. There needs to be some if's. Still fun to play with.

Its definitely not a linear algorithm :P It's a bit too complex to control though... take a look at the second one [link]

I looked at the second one after I wrote this and realised my mistake. It looks linear at the start. It appeared to be just spreading the colour outwards. What sort of thing are you aiming to create?
